Maya: The Gaming Nature of the Universe

Maya is nothing more than the creation of a very powerful game. A lot of time is spent in this generation to create games, especially now with the computer; amazing games that draw so many people into the gaming habit. It just shows our typical nature to get involved in a game. Now the games are very involved; more complex, challenging, exciting.

Where did we get that quality of gaming? Why do we enjoy games, in particular hide and seek? Hide something, and then there is the thrill of finding it. Maya shows the gaming nature of the Universe. Maya is nothing more than the Universe in play, and you had to don this suit [the physical body] to come in this earthly plane to engage in this play.

But it is not you who are playing; it is the Universe in you that is in play.                               It is not you, the ego, the apparent self, but the real self that is playing.                                        It is the Universe that is playing in you.                                                                                         The Universe is very much in a hide and seek; it has hidden itself as us, inside of us.    And in the play, we have lost the sense of Self, so it is very much like hide and seek.       Sri Vasudeva

Recognize the Dream-like Nature of Life

If you observe very carefully, you are held in an experience that is much like a dream. The wise say that this experience of waking life is just a longer dream, which means we are actually sleeping in the consciousness, because we know that dreams happen when we are sleeping. Is it true that we are held in an illusion, and what we are experiencing as reality isn’t so? That there is a greater reality than what we are experiencing? Is there?

Let us hold that thought for a moment, that what we are experiencing as reality with our human senses is not absolute reality; it is dream-like. Just think for a moment. What have you seen as you look in the mirror every day? You have seen your physical body change. If you look at life very carefully, there is a birth and death every day, you will see the constant change in everything around you. When we go to sleep and have this experience of a dream, why do we call it a “dream”? Because when we wake up, we realize that it was only in the mind and our perception of the dream changed. So every day, you are watching how that which you hold as a reality is ever changing.

Letting go to be Held…

pexels-photo-225336.jpegIf you begin to realize that you are not the doer then there should be a shift in you as to who the real doer is.  It’s the way of looking. In the relinquishing of doership we begin to feel a new surge of energy, so let’s say you’re in an ordinary job.  You begin to feel the job as extraordinary now because you’re feeling a divine surge in you.

It requires in that letting go to be held, or to be carried.  So it’s a false notion if you let go and you are stagnant.  But if you let go in some divine waking up and you begin to feel a new power surging through your being, that’s the kind of spiritual waking up that is important, that’s the letting go that should happen.  You let go when you feel that something is taking over.  So that’s where the spiritual awakening is.  It pushes you to let go and that letting go has to be moving away from the seeker, seeing an evolutionary urge inside of you that’s pushing you. “What is pushing me to give up this idea of doership?” Sri Vasudeva Day 22 Forty days 2017. For full talk and meditation go to  www.

Seek the Eyes of Wisdom

Observe what the pause in the breath does; the pause at the end of the in-breath, the pause at the end of the out-breath.  It can hold you in a place of no beginning, no end. It can hold you in a place of timelessness. Your true Self is boundless and free.

O Creator of Maya, I seek the eyes of wisdom that I may understand your play. I seek the vision of the third eye.”

As you breathe into the centre of the eyebrows, as you focus on the brain, let your prayer be to see with the eyes of the wise.

“Let me see the play of your Maya.

Let me see the sport of your Maya, O Creator of Maya. I seek liberation in this play.”

Asato Mā Sad Gamaya

Tamaso Mā Jyotir Gamaya

Mrityor Mā Amritam Gamaya

Show me the real; take away the unreal from my eyes. Remove the darkness that enshrouds me; let me see the Light. Lead me to immortal consciousness, and take away the consciousness of death.

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.

Peace, Peace, Peace.

Contemplate the Temporary Nature of Life

pexels-photo-95684.jpegThings disappear around you: people, the body, pets, plants, go back to nature.  What do you call a changing experience, if not dream-like? So why do we give so much attention to what is changing around us, as the reality?

Why is it that we do not contemplate the temporary nature of life around us? It is so changing, it is so unpredictable. That is the Maya;  we are held in this false reality. We are so gripped by it that we do not even think.

When things around you don’t working out, or when you feel that you are not happy even though you get all the things that you want, do you see the false nature? That which you thought would make you happy doesn’t anymore. The achievement that you thought would fulfill you, didn’t.  It is innate to our being to search for that which is real. That is why we say we are on an evolutionary journey; waking up is our destiny.

I am inviting you to observe the dream-like nature of life, its transitory nature, and let your desire be strong to wake up to that which you really are; your reality. Hold that desire strongly that you may wake up to that which is real, and let that beautiful prayer from the Upanishad resonate within your being.

Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya; Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya; Mrtyor Maa Amrtam Gamaya; Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.” Lead me from the illusion of the unreal to the real, may the veiling power be removed so the Light may be revealed, lead me from the idea that I die to the consciousness of my immortality.
