Meditation for Inner Freedom

Begin to quiet the mind, so that we can observe our Self as being different to the body. Let us move away body-conscious thoughts, observing the body, but not identifying with it as our reality.

There is chakra awareness within you along the spine; there is prāṇa awareness with the breath, and; there is awareness of attention and intention. In the subtle world, your intention can create your reality, your perception. Your mind can create your reality. Begin to observe that space.

Stay with the moving breath. Open the belly and the chest to breathe, and breathe more completely, with attention along the spine. From the base of the spine, perineum area, take your attention along the spine as you breathe right to the back of the neck in the medulla area. And as you go to the medulla area, focus on the third eye. You are coming into subtle body awareness when you do that.

Protect the mind from being caught up in thoughts, beliefs, ideas, expectations, and impatience. Stay completely alert. Do not fall into sleep when you come in this space and try to retire the mind. You can do that by focusing on the third eye.

Whichever area along the spine feels burdened or challenged, take your attention there, still holding that mental power of the third eye. Focus on whichever chakra feels unbalanced.

The goal is not to be caught in the subtle dreams of the mind, nor to fall into the deep sleep, but to try to be fully aware.  This is how you learn to master the subtle world. It needs Rudra ( third eye) power to manage it; Guru power. Kuṇḍalinī brings it to us.

Freedom Comes by Cleaning the Kārmas


4a37becb7ebed004b139033d86177aba_free-flower-photo-free-flower-pics_1600-1000.jpegIn the usual experience that we are having, the normal human experience, we have waking, dreaming and deep sleeping. But as the “I,” the ego, evolves in the consciousness, it is going to experience this waking and this dreaming with more consciousness. So as you do your sādhana, you will find that you become more conscious in the waking state. You become more conscious in the dream state as well; you are repeating mantras, you are meditating, you are having spiritual conversations. The “I” or the ego continues to evolve in these experiences of waking and dreaming, so what is stored in the subtle energy body is being refined, upgraded, updated.

It is those kārmas that are stored in that causal body where we go to deep sleep, that keep us tied to the play. As those kārmas arise from deep within and begin to feature in the play, they become prārabdha kārmas and they pull us in the play again and again. So even when the body leaves, those kārmas are still there. And they are associated with the elements, with the senses, with the ego, and these unresolved kārmas bring us back into rebirth.

The process of spiritual discipline or the process of consciousness transformation or evolution in consciousness helps us to break away from the bondage of all those kārmas. And as we begin to clear the kārmic space – this can be done of course through consciousness exploration, consciousness expansion, using the intellect and the awakened Kuṇḍalinī operating – the “I” begins to evolve. As chakras open up more, the “I” begins to evolve and the way we operate in the waking state, the dream state and even the deep sleep state will change; more of a witness will emerge in the space. We will start witnessing actions in the gross space, in the subtle space, and even as we go to deep sleep. We go to the deep sleep differently, with more consciousness, and we wake up with more consciousness. So we do not feel that when we wake up, we have gone into such a limited state. We go in the deep sleep more consciously and we wake up more consciously.

And finally as the soul evolves, the ego will get into a state where it will identify more with its Higher Self, and experience more of the detachment and witnessing in the play without losing engagement. It will become more conscious in the play. Then with Grace, it will jump or leap into the fourth state of consciousness, which is that rapturous witness of all the states. It will become this rapturous witness, held together with the Divine in the dreaming, in the waking, in the deep sleeping. That is the turīya state; that is the state of freedom that  we are seeking.
