Equality in the Inner Space

wooden_wheel_194628.jpg               We tend to think in terms of spatial existence and linearity: that one thing is here and then it is displaced, so another one takes its place, there is a linear distance between them.

But let us consider for a moment, a wheel. Can you observe that in a wheel there is a part that doesn’t move at all? It is changeless, it is fixed,  while every other part is moving. For that wheel to function, the hub or the centre of the wheel, has to stay in connection with all the outer parts for it to operate as one unit. But in that hub there is a changeless nature. The hub is centred and everything spins around it. Now that hub does not have a linear existence. It is always in the same place and it is supporting every part of the wheel. In fact every part of the wheel is connected to that hub.

Now, which part is unimportant? Every part of the wheel is like a link in a chain so every part is essential. If we were to compare that to the components on the inner field – intellect, ego, vitality, emotion, body – they are all connected to the same Source! Every one of them! Where does the intellect get its power from? Where does the emotion get its power from? Where does the body get its power from, as a unit, every cell, every atom? You will see that every one of these components are fed from that hub, that we call “the Source of consciousness,” or “the Source.”

So no one is superior to the other, they all have a connection to the Source, and what is required is for each one to realize how important the other is, not thinking one is higher, one is lower, no hierarchy. It’s like the wheel. How can you have hierarchy in a circle? If you have a meeting and everybody is in a circle, who is at the head? When you have a rectangular table, you have a head and you have a tail, as it were, but in a round setting, each is a head.

So if you were to look at this inner play field, each one is important! Without the body, without emotions, without the intellect, we don’t have a perfect team. And so do not think in terms of linearity, do not think in terms of spatial existence, but think, “When my intellect comes in, it is coming from the Source. When my emotions come in, they are coming from the Source. When my body is featured, it exists in the Source. When my vitality comes in, it is coming from the Source. When my ego comes in, it comes from the Source.” And the Source is the changeless consciousness. Sri Vasudeva
