Training the mind – an essential discipline

I loved the step by step training that Guru gave in how to train the mind. This is my fav paragraph:

If you find your mind has a lot of thoughts, the first step is not to just sit and try to blank the mind.  That is a very difficult step, moving from a busy mind to a completely quiet mind.  Wouldn’t you say?  The first step is to really lessen the number of thoughts that you can have one particular thought in the mind.  That is the beginning of mind training.  When you can have one particular thought there, then you can drop that thought so you can see what silence is there when thoughts go away.  Not that the mind is passive, by no means, the mind is alert but it is being managed.  Thoughts can arise, but the mind is being managed.  We need to learn how to keep one thought in the mind when it is a very busy mind and then on how to drop that thought for a period of time, keeping the mind, totally quiet.  Can you do that?

  2. Thanks. This is a very, very good message. It’s important to try. It may take work. Slow down first, don’t brake all a once. Let it slip away. Thanks again. Keep blogging. Keep Writing.
