Swadhisthan-managing sexual energy

Many engaged in spiritual life consider sexuality as impure, something to avoid, be repressed or suppressed, not for sacred conversations. This attitude sometimes leads to strident, self-righteous posturing. Sounds like someone with difficulty managing the sexual power….a “hang up” about sex! Can we tap into the sacred energy of the Swadhisthan to support our spiritual path?

As we have said, we have a subtle energy system and there is a chakra or centre of subtle energy at the base of the spine, in the sacral or genital area, at the navel, heart, throat, brow and the crown. Each chakra is associated with the body functions in the area in which it is located.  As we give loving attention to each chakra we are also giving loving attention to the organs and tissues in that area, energizing them and keeping them healthy.

What about expressing sexual energy in relationships? We’ve talked before about being established in our spiritual nature, our Higher self and that it brings to our awareness our power of choice…. allows for conscious engagement.  We can choose to express the sexual power in loving relationships that are not based on selfish ego drives, but on selfless expressions of love. What do we do with this powerful energy if we are not in a loving relationship? Lets discuss that tomorrow.

    Namaskar,

This part struck me: “As we give loving attention to each chakra we are also giving loving attention to the organs and tissues in that area, energizing them and keeping them healthy.” A renewed awareness for me. And it shows me for the importance to give loving attention to every part of my body, to every chakra. Keeping balance.

    Thak you for this awareness.

    All my love, Henk
